STICKER RAGE.

a simple Google Image search reveals my major gripe with a simple design caveat:

Basically why the FUCK does every designed sticker have to be the SHITTIEST sticker on the planet? Worst. Adhesive. Ever. I mean come ON people:

Guitar Center Sarasota – Grand Opening

Ok. Tiny Wings review still pending, still thinking about it, but quickly, a Guitar Center opened up in Sarasota today. Managed to snake my way into around 40th in line by doing a douchey 'Hey! What's up man?' <snaaaake>

So yeah. I walked away with a MXL 990/991 Condenser Mic Recording Kit for $50! That's a steal. The mics sound killer too. Here's that in its coffin:

Also walked away with an XL (frowny face) Grand Opening T-Shirt that looks clean and awesome ('Graphic Designery' if you must), an urge to hit up a Saturday Logic Studio/Garage Band Seminar (basically) and THIS AWESOME IMAGE:

Yes. Upon entry to the land of audio, your ears are littered with the sounds of a (damn good) Elvis impersonator. Between songs he'd run through some rehearsed marketing for the store and ad-lib like a champ. Kudos to this place, Sarasota needed it. The St. Pete store is a bit blech. But yeaaaaaah, awesome gear, super nice employees (for now) and an unbelievable wish list in the back of my head, like me finding out I should get a hold of this to be awesome like Fort Myers Guitar Center Associate Justin:

I'll look into it =)

Obligatory Phone Post.

So, yeah, after a bit of adjusting and changing settings, I install the wordpress app on my phone.. like I'm getting paid to do this. Now we'll see how long it stays installed.

Speaking of which, I think my next big thing here could be to review Tiny Wings.. what a cute little game.

What I’m Listening To. (Part 1)

Let's go through a quick list of current podcasts I'm listening to and give it a SINGLE SENTENCE to describe them, a RATING and SINGLE SENTENCE explaining WHY.

Apple Keynotes: This is like porn for an apple fan-boy during big announcement-time when desperately needing to see a keynote. C+: Great production, but Apple only updates it but twice a month (if we're lucky).

The Ben Heck Show: Ben spends a solid 30 or 40 minutes building DIY projects from the likes of portable console systems (with screen) and pinball machines. B: Not an A-anything because I spend 30% of the show trying to understand core concepts of computer/electrical engineering and 70% going 'ohh, that's pretty neat!'.

CAGcast: CheapyD, Wombat and Shipwreck sit down and discussion current news and releases in gaming, happenings in the CAG community and sometimes bowel-talk. A-: Worthy of a full-listen with funny moments, smart discussion and is always updated.

Death Battle!: Two dudes create awesome battles between staple characters in gaming, cartoons, comics and more! A: Akuma vs. Shang Tsung, Goomba vs. Koopa, Haggar vs. Zangief.. need I say more?

The Digg Reel: Simply put: A display of popular internet videos with short-sighted commentary (comparable to Tosh.0 or Web Soup). D+: Even though it is dead, it was nice to see cool video every now and then or even NEW stuff, but then it would be videos you've seen a week ago and then the commentary started to become pretty meh.

Diggnation: Alex and Kevin discuss their lives and hand-picked digg.com stories. C+: Even though Digg is starting to drown and Kevin (and rarely Alex) is starting to come off like smug-new-money-west-coasters, the interaction between the group is great and the stories are still pretty good.

The Engadget Show: Editor-in-chief of popular tech blog Engadget.com, Joshua Topolsky, hosts a show featuring interviews and small-circle discussions about new tech and gadgetry with big and small featured guests from the tech industry and the blog's contributors. B: The insight into the industry is great and the guests can be extremely fascinating but Joshua needs to relax and let a guest talk, I think Nilay Patel is a massive douche (srsly) and they just need to drop that two-thousand and late chip tunes shit they play at the end.

EpicBattleCry: Similar to the CAGcast, these guys are a little more polished in providing the goods and the presentation is great whether in its audio or video form (with a bigger boner for the latter). A: I think this is the epicenter how how a podcast should be doled out and damn they put on a good show CONSISTENTLY.

Invisible Walls: The crew over at GameTrailers.com put on a round-table style discussion about the latest and greatest in the video game industry. A: Another great show with a simple discuss-over-game-play-footage production that includes great discussion.

Lex and Terry: Syndicated morning talk show done from Dallas, TX with a melting-pot of hilarious and great talk. B+: The show is baked fresh daily, most of the time it's pretty hilarious but sometimes they'd go on for a solid hour on non-fact-checked sports talk.

Low End Theory Podcast: Monthly podcast of music mix sets with current music mostly bringing to light undergorund electronic and hiphop music. C+: Great mixes and sound for the majority of their posted shows but unfortunately has been lacking in actually posting shows as of late.

The Moth Podcast: Great, interesting and funny short stories told by a massive range of people. B-: The stories are great and varied but there are some instances where if a story starts to drag along I lose interest immediately.

NBC Nightly News: Popular stories and news of the day updated daily and told by Brian Williams. C: Brian Williams is the MAN, the news is NEWS but 60% of the time I use this show as background noise.

preGame: A video podcast with short video game discussions on current news and releases. C+: Production being sub-par doesn't detract from a pretty neat feature in this show: actually new video game demos played live in the studio.

Rebel FM: Insightful and slightly longer sit-down discussions on the current hotness in video games. B: Ever since CGW/GFW Radio died, this is the podcast I followed after the dust settled.

Stuff You Should Know: Brought to us by HowStuffWorks.com, the two gents discuss a MONSTRUOUS range of topics and the nitty gritty behind them with in depth analysis with lively and very informative conversation. B+: It's awesome when it's a topic you WANT to know about, interesting enough when it's something you never really put much thought into, but pretty lame when it's something you could honestly care less about.

Tech Stuff: Also brought to us by HowStuffWorks.com, this podcast has two guys knowledgeable in technology and they also grab a random topic and lay into it. B-: It being practically the same format as Stuff You Should Know, the topics in rotation have more of a tendency to fall in the 'less interesting category unfortunately.

this WEEK in TECH: Hosted by Leo Laporte, this tech-related podcast brings together a great round-table of tech enthusiasts, bloggers and entrepreneurs to discuss the week's top news in tech. A-: The show has a great format, has potential to be a prefect template for the medium to make revenue, the guests are sometimesi make great contributions and works both in video and audio form.

The Totally Rad Show: Jeff, Alex and Dan cover topics in movies, games, comic and television on a daily basis and sometimes throw in a fun bit or two for casual entertainment. B+: The format use to be one whole video, but breaking up the segments daily has given exposure to the great content, fun moments and great interaction among the three, but having shorter shows leads to want more.

Video Interviews - GameTrailers.com: GameTrailers.com takes a few minutes to have a short interview with a deveolper or publisher about upcoming games. C+: If it features a game you're interested in, seeing preview footage of the game can be a rewarding insight along with the short interview, but when it features a game you could care less about, it's immediately deleted.

Video Previews - GameTrailers.com: Along the same lines as the Video Interviews, these clips display preview footage of upcoming games with voice over accompaniment. B-: Same issues with the Interviews podcast; if the game is on your radar, boom, but if not, blam.

Video Reviews - GameTrailers.com: Usually an 8 minute review of a recently released game that gives a great reviews covering the subjects of design, story, gameplay and presentation. B+: Watching these reviews can give me a good idea of how to base my own opinion on a title but it's mainly just eye-candy for me to see more of a game.

XLR8R: Weekly "cutting edge" mixes and music from anything and everything among hip-hop, dance, indie music and more. C-: For a while, every other podcast was a keeper, but lately it has been missing the boat on the last 2 months worth of content.

So that's what I'm listening to, at least in my podcast collection. I might just sprinkle this kind of post in every once in awhile with more an emphasis on music. I'd open the comments up, but my last experience doing that, I was given a ton of opportunity to increase my penis size.

So, we'll see how this all goes.
